The state minster for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid said, “Uninterrupted and quality power supply is now a demand of time; and it needs to be provided to the mass people as soon as possible.
The state minister said so in an inauguration program of the installation of Banani 132/33/11 KV grid sub-station on Friday, where Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) handed over a land to Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (Desco) for this project as well. Nasrul Hamid was the chief guest of the program.
The state minister said that, the electric lines and substations are needed to be placed underground. He also said that, combined effort from DPDC, Desco might ensure the sustainable development in this sector. Among others power secretaru Dr. Ahmed Kaykaus, Bangladesh Power Development (BPDB) chairman Khaled Mahmud, Desco managing director Shahid Sarwar spoke at the program where Desco board of directors chairman Md Mahbub-ul-Alam presided over the program.
Sources claimed that, Desco is going to install 5 substations at Banani, Purbachol, Uttara, Bashundhara, Tongi area, which will be financed by Asian Development Bank. Once the projects will be finished the will add 460 MW of electric supply capacity in 132 KV transmission system and 640 MW of electric supply capacity in 33KV transmission system.
