State-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (Bapex) on 20 November started drilling at highly prospective gas structure in Titas gas field, which is expected to add 30 million cubic feet of gas (mmcfd) per day to the national grid. Petrobangla Chairman Dr. Hossain Monsur inaugurated the well drilling work, which has been taken up at a cost of nearly TK 110 crore.
Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) Managing Director Md Nurul Absar, BAPEX Managing Director M A Baki, GTCL Managing Director Md Aminur Rahman, BGFCL General Manager (Operation) Eng. Md Kamruzzaman, General Manager (Planning & Development) Eng. Mostafa Kamal, Project director Eng. Fazlul Hoque Chowdhury, BGFCL and Project related officials were present at the function.
Hossain Monsur said, “The current gas crisis will be eased slightly as Bapex has apprised us that around 30 mmcfd gas could be produced from fresh drilling.”
Titas is the country’s biggest gas field producing around 600 to 700 mmcf gas per day.
