BD Gives India Permit To Carry Petroleum Products To Tripura

EB Report

Bangladesh has given India route permit to carry petroleum products such as motor spirit, high speed diesel, superior kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas from Assam to Tripura through its territory.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) signed a MoU with Bangladesh’s Roads and Highways Department on Thursday.

The High Commission of India said heavy monsoon and the resultant extremely bad road condition of NH44 have caused disruptions in the supply of petroleum goods from the state Assam to Tripura.

Based on India’s request, the Hasina government has granted permission for the movement of petroleum goods on “humanitarian grounds” through the territories of Bangladesh until September.

Trucks carrying the goods will ply in the Dawki (Meghalaya)-Tamabil (Bangladesh)-Chatlapur (Bangladesh)-Kailasshar (Tripura) route, the high commission said.
