Energy Bangla Review

Energy: All Index Lower Except Expenditures

EB Raport

The Cost of everything has declined except for due payments and operational expenditures. This is the current scenario of the country’s energy sector. Production of gas, its supply and sell along with monthly profit have raised. Having enhanced in such a way, however, the sector is facing difficulties taking control over the operational expenditures and due payments.

Experts say that the decreased production of gas has had a negative impact on most of the indexes of this sector.

This information broke out after assessing the financial report of Petrobangla of January and February of this year.

After a thorough review of the reports the EnergyBangla team has found that the total production of gas in February was 158 MMcm (million cubic metres) less than that of January’s. In January the production was 2371.594 MMcm where it decreased to 2213.681 MMcm in February.

At the same time, the formulation of other petroleum products like MS, HSD, Kerosene, Condensate, NGL and Octane has decreased 13,650 liters. In January, the total production was 81,790.073 liter and in February, it was 68140.273 liter.

The Petrobangla has bought less as the gas yield was relatively lower. Infact, they bought 158 MMcm less gas than the previous month. Hence, the sell and usage have also decreased by 118 MMcfd (Million Cubic Feet per Day)

Even the pipe line installment process has got slower in a way that, almost 3 Km less line was installed in the recent month.

Government is maintaining ‘Go Slow’ policy while giving new gas connections and as a result in the current month 3,717 less connections are introduced than that of the previous month.

Detaching illegal gas connections continues as usual. But unfortunately, here the rate is decreased indeed as the detachment in current month is 1086 less than the previous.

In terms of income, Petrobangla counted 333 million Taka less than the previous month as the sell was decreased. Therefore, the profit is also declined by 715 million Taka. At the same time Profit before Tax has lessened by 947 million Taka.

The operational expenditure of Petrobangla has increased by 381 million Taka though the income and profit both collapsed. Moreover, within one month due payments increased by 145 million Taka.
