The deadline of the Tender of JICA (Japan Intl. Co-operation Agency)
funded 1,200 MW Matarbari Power Plant has been extended. As reported
by the Coal Power Generation Company (CPGC), the executing agency,
24th of July, 2016 was the last date of tender submission, which is
currently extended to 24th of August, 2016.
JICA asked for the extension of the deadline due to the security
reasons in the wake of Gulshan terror attack.
The Managing Director of CPGC, Md. Abul Kashem has confirmed
Energybangla about the extension of the deadline of tender submission.
He told energybangla on Saturday that the deadline was extended in the
response to the claims for time extension from the tender
participating companies.
As many as 20 people, including 17 foreigners, were killed on 1st July
in a militant attack at the Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan, Dhaka.
Seven of the murdered were Japanese nationals, who were also the
consultants of the Metrorail project of Dhaka city. Afterwards, the
Japanese respective authorities requested to slow down the process of
installing the power plant.
