Petrol Pump Licenses Would Be Cancelled If Stops Selling Fuel

EB Report

The state minister for Power Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid warned petrol pump owners saying that their licenses would be cancelled if anyone stops selling fuel. Already a total number of 350 pumps have been identified as adulterated oil seller, he added it on Wednesday while talking with the journalists at his office in
secretariat.

The state minister said that the gazette notification will be issued within any day in-between 21st to 24th of April comprising the price cut of various petroleum oils. The new price list of fuels will be effective within 3 days of issuing the gazette notification. He added that, in first phase the price of Diesel will be cut by 4-5 TK, where Octane, Petrol and Kerosene’s price will be reduced by 10-15 TK. Until
this revised price list got approved, licenses will be cancelled if
anyone being found stopped selling oils.

This declaration came from the state minister at a moment when, the
country is facing an acute fuel crisis throughout the petrol-pumps.

Nasrul Hamid said, the gazette notification on reducing oil prices
will be published approximately 7 to 10 days after the Pahela
Baishakh. By the meantime, some corrupt filling station owners have
decreased and even stopped selling oils at some places. However, we
acknowledged this matter and we will terminate their licenses if they
are found guilty, he added. We have identified 350 pumps as they are
selling adulterate oils to the end customer and these pumps will also
lose their licenses, he stated.

Earlier on 4th of April the government proclaimed that they were about
to lower the current prices of petroleum oils. Fearing a great loss,
petrol pump owners started or even stopped loading oils from the
depots. As a result, an acute fuel crisis has emerged throughout the
country since 6th of April. Customers are now being bound to either
get back in empty hands or buying inadequate fuel at a much higher
price than regular from the filling stations.
