Russia will provide $1200cr, 93,600 cr in local currency, in 4 per cent interest for Roopur nuclear power plant on Pabna at Iswardi. Bangladesh needs to repay the Debt within 28 year with 10 year grace
period.
Thursday , finance minister informs this after the meeting with Vice president of Russian Atomic Energy Commission N N Paskit. He said, we need to sign another two agreement for this project. One is project
cost agreement and another is debt agreement. Russia wants to sign first agreement within next month. But it is a big project we don’t do anything in hurry. After discussing the issue with Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina we will take the decision.
Minister added, this is a big project for Bangladesh. We are discussing to ensure the funding of the project. Nuclear power plant can save the cost of electricity generation.
Rooppur power plant is governments one of the ‘first track’ project. The project estimated $1,350cr. Russia will provide 90 per cent and government will manage the rest.
Three agreements were signed at the meantime. Agreements were signed between Bangladesh Atomic energy commission and Rosatom.
Earlier, Russia provided $50cr loan. it wants to start the project recently. For this the chairman of Rosatom had a meeting with finance minister. 100 per cent work of first two agreement and 85 percent of third agreement were completed. Another two agreement will be signed for the project.
Russia will provide required fuel and west management for the project and they also will help in Maintenance, infrastructure development, human resource, technical support for the project.
After completing the survey in Rooppur, it was informed Ruppur nuclear power plant be environment friendly. This plant will be designed by considering earthquake, flood, wind, drought and other natural
