Security has been fortified to ensure the safety of foreign nationals who are involved in the country’s energy and power sector. Initiatives are taken from the government to beef up the security systems of the gas fields and power plants to secure the foreigners.
Deputy Commissioners of all the districts have been directed to ensure the safety of foreigners.
The additional secretary of Power Division Dr Ahmad Kaikaus said that, special intensive security measures were taken in all the power plants at the night of Friday. Special security measures were taken to ensure the safety of the foreign nationals working at different locations.
The number of foreign nationals living in this country is not a handful. A good chunk of foreigners is involved in many projects and organizations related to the country’s energy and power sector. Many of them are employed in different gas fields and power plants situated in different districts. The initiatives of security beef up are taken right after the overnight siege that caused many foreign causalities in the café named Holey artisan in Gulshan.
Sources have confirmed that, all the Deputy Commissioners were told to stay alert after the Gulshan attack.
The Deputy Commissioner of Pabna, Rekha Rani Balo arranged a meeting with the foreign nationals (Russian) working at the project of Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant. The DC then gave the assurance of the safety of the Russian citizens.
Chevron Bangladesh, now operating the largest gas field of Bangladesh has declared its office in Gulshan closed on Sunday after the deadly attack. Many of the employees of Chevron are foreigners indeed. The company has reinforced their security systems of the fields and plants. Sheikh Jahidur Rahman, communications manager at Chevron Bangladesh said that, Chevron was closely monitoring the situation. All the personnel working at Chevron were requested to stay alert.
