The ‘Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) (Amendment) Bill, 2014’ was placed in Parliament on Sunday seeking another four year extension of some provisions of the exiting law.
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid Bipu moved the bill in the House. The bill was sent to relevant parliamentary standing committee for scrutiny asking it to report back to Parliament by December 30.
The bill proposed extension of indemnity for four years more in the construction of power plants for ensuring quick supply of power and energy in the country.
With the passage of the amendment bill, some provisions of the Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) Act-2010 will remain effective till October 11, 2018.
