The Parliament Secretariat Commission today approved an estimated budget of Taka 295.26 crore for the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) for the fiscal year 2016-2017.
The approval came at the 27th meeting of the commission held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon with Deputy Speaker Md Fazley Rabbi Mian in the chair.
Member of the commission Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina attended the meeting.
The commission endorsed an allocation of Tk 294.21 crore in non-development sector and Tk 1.05 crore in development sector for the JS for the next fiscal.
Besides, the budget projection for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 fiscal years was okayed in the meeting. It also approved the revised budget of 2015-2016 fiscal.
Apart from this, the meeting discussed a report on implementation of the decisions taken in the 26th meeting of the commission and their progress.
Members of the commission Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Raushan Ershad, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque attended the meeting, while Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip ASM Feroz joined it on special invitation.
Senior Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Dr Md Abdur Rab Hawlader, Senior Secretary of the Finance Division Mahbub Ahmed and officials concerned were also present at the meeting.
