Dr. Toufiq Ali assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer, Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Ltd. (KAFCO), on 21st June 2015.
He had joined the erstwhile Civil Service (CSP) in 1968 and later moved to the Foreign Service. His last appointment while in the Government was Ambassador/Permanent Representative in Geneva. While in Geneva, he led Bangladesh in WTO trade negotiations under the Doha Round. After leaving the Government in 2007, he joined the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna as a Senior Adviser and returned to Bangladesh in 2009. Prior to joining KAFCO, Dr. Ali has been the Chief Executive of the Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC).
Dr. Ali’s educational background is in Economics, having obtained a Ph.D. from Boston University, USA
