A transmission glitch briefly disrupted power supply at many places in Dhaka, including Bangabhaban and Parliament, and Narayanganj.
A Power Development Board (PDB) official, asking not to be named, told that several power plants at Siddhirganj stopped generation around 7pm on Tuesday after a fault in the 132 kV line at Haripur.
The official said some areas in Dhaka and Narayanganj had faced power outage as a result.
The power supply resumed after about half an hour. The situation became normal about an hour and a half later, the official said.
The power cut, however, had hit some important places like Bangabhaban and Parliament for a few moments.
Public Works Department Sub-Divisional engineer Md Anwar Hossain, posted at the Parliament building, said the outage took place due to a grid failure.
“But the situation came back to normal when Parliament’s generator kicked in,” he said.
An AFC Under-23 Championship qualifying match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium was also halted for several minutes due to the power failure.
