The three-day exhibition marking the Power and Energy Week-2016 concluded at the capital’s International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) seturday.
Rampal Power Plant, the proposed 1,320MW coal-fired power plant at Rampal of Bagerhat, also arranged a visitors’ competition at the exhibition.
A large number of visitors, specially students, joined the contest today, the concluding day of the three-day exhibition organised by Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL).
“Many participated and won prizes in digital IQ competition,” BIFPCL Managing Director UK Bhattacharya told.
The company also distributed leaflets on basic information about the plant, including project site, effluent treatment plant, fuel gas desulphurisation (FGD), carbon sink, social and economic benefits of the project etc.
Besides, local power distribution company- Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) – promoted renewable energy specially grid tied inverter at the fair.
B.G. (ret) MD. Nazrul Hasan, meneging director og DPDC, said,“Use of solar power can help reduce pressure on grid electricity. So, we want to help consumers on how to use solar power and get benefit out of it.”
Visitors gathered at Coal Power Generation Company of Bangladesh Ltd, BPDB, BREB, DPDC, DESCO and WZPDCL and wanted to know about their activities.
On the first day, DESCO allowed visitors to get instant power connection.
Gas and oil production, transmission and distribution companies also showcased their products and replied to the queries from visitors.
They also distributed brochures about their activities among the visitors.
Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited informed visitors about the company’s activities.
Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB), which is working for survey on coal fields and mineral resources deposit activities, also answered questions from visitors.
Some private firms, including China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPPB) and Bangladesh Independent Power Producers’ Association (BIPPA) of 44 local power generation companies, attended the fair.
