The government has raised the price of gas for once more. This time the price of gas was raised by 22.73 percent on an average. Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) released a public notice regarding the revised prices on Thursday. The charge of household gas will hike by 50 percent on an average for single burner and the charge of double burner will hike by 46 percent on an average.... »
Consumers will have to count enhanced price for gas from 1st March 2017. “We’ve discussed about the hike in gas prices with the government. Increased price will be adjusted,” said an official at Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC). Government has now planned to increase the prices of gas for all types of consumers.
Gas supply will be shut down thursday from 11 am to 6 pm at the East side of Mirpur-10 to Agargaon Road. That includes Manipur, Kazipara, Shewrapara, Pirerbag, Barabag, Agargaon, Senpara, Ibrahimpur, North Kafrul, Parbata, Taltala, Kalayanpur, Shyamoli and adjacent araes due to pipeline shifting work under Dhaka Metro Rail construction project.
Another incident of cylinder blast took place at the city’s Jatrabari area on Wednsday morning that left 5 personnel burnt. The explosion occurred at the kitchen of a local restaurant called Red Chili and Chinise Restaurant located at Mominbaag, Konabari, Matuail area. Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company limited has disconnected a total of 290 illegal gas connections of 190 different houses of Maona Madhypara area in Sripur Upazila of Gazipur district. A task force of Titas conducted this drive on 15th February to detect and eliminate the illegal gas connections at that area. More and more people are getting injured, burnt and a large portion of them eventually dying due to cylinder blasts that have been taking place in the country for the last couple of years. The government has decided to procure two new Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) carrier vessels from China. Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese Institute of Maritime and Offshore Engineering HB Co LTD to buy those two vessels. Urea production in Jamuna Fertiliser Company Limited (JFCL) at Tarakandi in Sarishabari Upazila of Jamalpur district has stopped on last Monday due to a sharp drop in supply of ammonia gas to the factory. Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company limited has disconnected the gas connections of five CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) station as the owners of these stations disobeyed the government directives. Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company limited, one of the state owned distribution authority has disconnected a total of 49 thousands 161 illegal gas connections including 2 CNG stations, 4 commercial organizations as well as 80.24 kilometers of gas line in this last January.
