CNG filling station owners decided not to go for the strike they threatened to enforce from Sunday.
Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners’ Association has called off their strike scheduled for Sunday following assurance from the authorities concerned that their demands will be met.
The association’s general secretary Farhan Noor Bhuiyan said they decided to withdraw their scheduled strike after a fruitful meeting with the Bangladesh Road Transport Authorities (BRTA) on Saturday.
The association had made the announcement of the strike at a press conference on Wednesday to press home its 3-point demand.
They demanded cancellation of high charges for land by Roads and Highways Department, withdrawal of the gas price hike proposal, and implementation of the recommendations made by the energy ministry.
A CNG filling station had to pay its annual rent for leasing the land, an amount TK 52,560 before imposing new rule on 22 October in 2015. According to rescheduled rate by Roads and Highways Department, it will have to pay TK 11,28,682 which is 22 times higher than the regular price.
